WS2812b is a pixel-type digitally addressable LED strip. Each SMD 5050 LED has an integrated driver IC.
You will need a 5V power supply and a pixel controller, Arduino or other control system. This allows you to independently control color and brightness, or add complex lighting effects to a project.
There are separate power/ground wires at each end. Each LED can be cut off without damaging the remaining strip. You can shorten it and lengthen it as you need.
